Trendy Berlin – the Prenzlauer Berg

The Prenzlauer Berg is often called Berlin’s trendiest area. Here you can find everybody who’s young, fast, hip, creative and funny (or at least gives it a try). Here you can get outrageous clothes, check out the East German retro style, buy weird handbags or pick up strange souvenirs. And the Kastanienallee boulevard offers a choice of over 40 bars, clubs, cafés and restaurants – or you just stay at the famous “Prater“ beer garden.

But the Prenzlauer Berg has even more to offer than all that. It is also full of history. Here you find unique old industrial architecture, breweries from the 1840s and a remaining section of the Berlin Wall. This district was a bastion of anti-Nazi resistance ... and the place where the first pro-democracy demonstrations started in 1989. This walk tells you all about one of Berlin’s most exciting districts.
