The Jewish inhabitants of Berlin once played an important part in the city’s cultural, economic and political life. But then the Nazis almost completely destroyed the community. Since the early 1990s, an influx of immigrants from the former East Bloc has revitalised Jewish culture in Berlin. This tour will take you from the medieval roots of Berlin’s Jews right up to the presence. It includes the magnificent New Synagogue with its golden dome, the remains of the old cemetery, the “lost synagogue“, the Holocaust Memorial and several other important sites.
